Flow Forming has been very popular in recent times in the alloy wheel manufacturing industry by providing an improved overall wheel performance in comparison to a conventional cast wheel. While flow forming still requires the original blanks to be cast, the barrels of the wheel are created by a heating and spinning process.
After special casting of the blanks, they are setup into a flow forming machine, where it undergoes high speed spinning and heat process where the barrels are flow formed downwards. This creates denser aluminium granular structure similar to forging process, leading to a lighter wheel and stronger wheel.
